Something I Need

Armin X Reader Series

Part One

And if you only die once I wanna die with

You got something I need

In this world full of people there's one killing me

And if we only die once I wanna die with you, you, you, you

You had never really spoken to him the first few times around. Maybe, when actually thought about it, you hadn't really spoken to anyone generally. Distance was something you had valued greatly.

It just didn't make much sense to you to try and befriend people, especially in the militaristic path you were all walking down. You didn't want to start friendships and spend precious time making them flourish and bloom. For what? Just to watch them get swallowed alive by a Titan? No thank you. You decided to spare yourself the heartbreak and agony and sleepless nights.

But it was ironic to you how one person had easily changed your outlook on the matter. All it took him was one smile. One glance and you were fascinated in this interesting individual.

And oh, wasn't Armin Arlert interesting individual?

He drew you in similar to mosquito like a lantern in the dead of the night. Like music from a minstrel to a drunken fool, eager for more. Like a sheep to his shepherd, there was something about him that looped you in. Could you ever tire of the golden haired boy's silent siren song?

And when you crossed paths with him, it left you with an echoing ache. A deep longing feeling to grasp him by those lovely hands of his, pull him close and place your lips upon his -. You sharply drew in a long lungful of air of the morning air and continued sprinting with the rest of the trainees. You had been distracted long enough.

Shadis had you all began the morning exercises with a series of very painful stretches that you and many others had yet to get accustomed to in the three months you had all been there so far. After you had all completed those, you were all sent out to run around the training field for 40 laps or roughly 10 miles. You had sweat in places you didn't really want it in or wanted to think about and your [h/l] was practically pasted to your forehead. It was even more so unfortunate that the sun was glaring down harshly today.

You watched as some trainees fell to the floor in physical exhaustion or went to Shadis to give in. Now that you really thought about it, you hadn't seen a lot of people at lunch and dinner that day…

A small handful of people were actually left running the track that the uniform boots everyone had imprinted in the dirt ground. Oh, look at that, Sasha just fell over.

Now that you had actually left your thoughts, you had realized a painful ache began to cry out in your legs. You couldn't stop now though, only two laps remained. Two laps weren't too painful and you were more than positive you could do it.

You jogged past Shadis and smiled softly to yourself, one lap remained. You could finish that easy. However, fate had different plans.

You got something I need

In this world full of people there's one killing me

And if we only die once I wanna die with you, you, you, you

The next thing that you did was completely unintentional on every single part. With a sharp yelp, your legs gave in underneath you and you went tumbling into the dirt. Gross, you could bet your white uniform pants were no longer white anymore.

Dust flew up around you as trainees ran past and finished their laps. You could hear their calls of triumph to each other and relived wheezes. Ouch, that hurt your ego. It hurt even more that no one had stopped to help you up or see if you were okay. Or so you thought.

You heard a pair of boots coming and stopping in your presence and you weakly looked up at the person. The sun highlighted his blonde locks and his eyes were filled with…concern? For you?

"Oh, it's you Armin," you whispered bitterly, throat parched, "Came to poke fun, huh?"

"[y/n]," he spoke, ignoring your offensive comment as he kneeled down to get closer to you, "Are you okay?"

"Do I look okay?! I can't feel my legs!" You hissed at him. He jumped a little at your outburst and looked away from you before looking back.

"Do you need help?"

"No," your [s/t] cheeks flushed as you [e/c] orbs looked away, "Finish your laps then help me."

"I did already."

"Huh…?"

Well, that was an honest surprise. Armin, one of the most weakest and frail people here, finished before you. A slight growl left your throat and you looked away from him, a disgusted taste on your tongue. If that wasn't insulting, you didn't know what was.

"Then go back to your friends," you retorted dryly, attempting to stand. However, your body made it very clear that walking was out of the equation when you collapsed again.

"But you need help [y/n]! I can't just leave you here!" He attempted to reason with you. Your gaze made its way from the ground and made contact with his eyes. His cerulean beauties told no lies from what you saw. He noticed you glowering at him and reddened faintly. Or was exhaustion making you see things…?

You were quiet for a few heartbeats before responding softly, "Fine."

Armin smiled gently towards you and outreached his hand. Without thinking twice, you grabbed it. Oh gosh, was it this natural for boys to have hands this soft or gentle…? He assisted you to your feet, which took a few minutes seeing how it was incredibly hard it was for you to stand at the moment.

His arm gently wrapped itself around your waist so he could support you better and your arm found its way to his shoulders in response. You then both made your way to Instructor Shadis, maneuvering around the fainted Sasha sprawled on the floor. He then spat out the usual insults and rude comments at you and Armin before excusing you to the infirmary. You hastily thanked Armin for his help and scattered away before he could answer back.

The whole time on your voyage to the infirmary however you couldn't help but replay what just happened mentally.

The way his arm felt around your waist. A shock went up your back and you blushed. It felt delightful and natural, like it belonged there. You shook your head and dismissed such thoughts. Armin wasn't even your friend. You shouldn't have been thinking about him in such a way like…he was something you needed.

-x-

As punishment for collapsing during the run, you weren't allowed lunch, or dinner for that matter. You cursed bitterly as you watched your peers enter the mess hall with hungry [e/c] eyes.

You sat on the steps of the mess building, slightly listening to the chatter of the people inside. You had been drawing some unrecognizable designs on the dirt of the wooden steps before the voices of approaching people caught your attention. You looked up to see a group of three coming near. Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert to be exact.

You gazed at the blonde boy, your heart doing a nervous flop and your brain fizzing out all in one second. Oh crap, what would you say to him? 'Um, thanks for helping me after I was too pathetic to help myself. Plus, your eyes are really sexy and I like the way you hold my waist too. Let's fuck.'

"Uh…can we get through, [f/n]?" An awkwardly toned voice, belonging to Eren, asked you. You broke your daydream and looked up to the three, who were looking down at you. You happened to be block their way, whoops.

"O-oh! My bad!" You stuttered as you quickly stood up, rubbing the back of your head, scuffing up your [h/c] tresses. You moved to the side of the railing, leaving room for them to walk past. You decided to leave the area at this time before Armin could walk past you. You didn't want to provoke even more awkward feelings between him and his friends. However when you were going down the stairs, you accidently bumped into the said blonde. Even the feeling of his chest against yours in that slight second sent sparks down your back.

"I-I'm sorry [f/n]!" He shouted apologetically, his arms latching onto your shoulders to steady you during that slight collision. You, on the other hand, had seized onto his hips in the moment. They felt so nice in your hands. You were tempted to squeeze them as you mentally berated yourself.

"It's okay, Armin," you mumbled, looking into his cerulean eyes, "I'm not hurt or anything."

There was a moment of silence between the two of you as you stared at each other. You could feel Mikasa and Eren looking at you two from atop the stairs. You wondered what they must be thinking. You and Armin latching on to each other like lovers or something. But the thought escaped your mind as you continued to stare into his eyes.

It was silent for a moment longer before Eren called, "Armin?"

Just like that the trance was broken. Armin gasped softly and looked away from you, his hands leaving your shoulders. You had to hold back a small whine. The warmth his hands had left on your shoulders was eaten up by the night air. He began to mutter a quick goodbye to you and walk around you to reach his waiting friends. On an impulse, you grabbed his wrist before he could get away. He looked at you, expecting something when honestly you had no idea what you were doing either. Maybe you were just looking for a way to prolong your time with him.

I know that we're not the same

But I'm so damn glad that we made it

To this time, this time, now

"U-um, thank you," you stuttered, "for earlier. I really owe you."

Slowly, but surely, his face grew red, "It's okay! I'd always be happy to help you."

Your face also grew a little red at the remark. Letting go of his hands, you began walking backwards, making it obvious the conversation was coming to a close. You grinned at him.

"So I'll see you around Armin!"

"Y-yeah, same here!"

Oh, and you were planning on seeing him later on. The cute blonde with the water colored eyes. You giggled to yourself and made your way to the girl's dorms. The whole way there you thought about Armin and his beautiful eyes.

If we only live once I wanna live with you

EDIT [10/22/14]:

Here's the game plan! I'll be writing one sequel to this called "Life In Color!"

I don't have the juices to pump out a whole series! o n o

Here it is~! My Armin x Reader series begins now.

So, using a song from the album "Native" by One Republic as inspiration for every chapter. I plan to make a fourteen part series covering the cute love reader and Armin share. This one is based off "Something I Need". Listen to it here: audio only to make your life simple

I'm not quite sure what I'm doing for the next part yet~.
